Learn more about what our blended benchmark is that used in our impact reports
By default, YourStake constructs the blended benchmark in the following way:
Funds are benchmarked against a representative index based on their investment style (e.g. 'US Large Cap'). Companies are benchmarked against the universe of companies with data coverage for the metric (e.g. the "Fossil Fuel Loans" metric has a bank sector benchmark). The displayed comparisons are based on a dollar-weighted average based on the portfolio constituents with data coverage for each metric.
To get a full picture of your blended benchmark, you can click on any of the metrics in a YourStake report to be taken to the "impact attribution" page. On this page, you'll see a list of your holdings, and their specific benchmarks. You can hover over the benchmark for additional details. The "Blended" benchmark is a dollar-weighted roll-up of all the benchmarks for each of the individual positions. See the screenshot as an example impact attribution page for Tobacco Producers Exposure, which gives a sense of the blended benchmark.
You can also always use a custom benchmark by adding a model or client portfolio to the "Comparison" search box in the report builder (https://www.yourstake.org/advisor-dashboard/reports/).
